My 5 favorite suspense/drama movies
70Suspense/drama movies
I love a good suspense/drama movie. The kind that keeps me on the edge of my seat and helps me win bets I place with my husband on who is it that did what, where and why? There are so many to choose from, some confuse me and I don’t know wheather to place them in the suspense or a drama category so I used the slashed between words and kept it simple( The Slash, what would we do with out it?) What ever category they officially fall into for me I guess it doesn’t really matter. If it has suspense, drama or both even the better for me and I’m watching it.
Here I listed 5 of my favorite suspense/drama movies.
2. Revolutionary road- Starring Leonardo Dicaprio (Frank) and Kate Winslet (April), once again sharing the screen since 1997’s Titanic. The film entails a woman Kate who is not satisfied with the suburban life, and her husband frank who is very unhappy in his career. They feel trapped in a world that they chose in order to live up to other’s ideas on how a family should live. They engage in heated arguments and make decisions that will forever change their way of life. I found this movie to be extremely thought provoking and acting very good.
3. Notes on a scandal- Starring Kate Blanchett as Sheba. This film is about a much older woman who leads a very lonely life and suddenly becomes overly interested in befriending one of her colleagues whom also happens to be a teacher (Sheba) in the same school where she works. Of course there is a deeper motive than just friendship and it all comes to the surface when Sheba engages in a romantic relationship with a young student of her's. I thought this movie was explosive and the ending was a surprise to me. It kept me guessing through the whole movie. I really enjoyed it.
4. State of grace- Ah, Sean Penn. What can I say, I love his movies. This movie was filmed in NYC; it is about Irish gangsters and inspired by real mob gang The Westies. This is a great suspense action thriller and yes drama too. Terry played by Sean Penn now police officer who was once involved in the world of crime, is now assigned to go back after twelve years to his hometown as an undercover police officer. This film has superb acting and in unbelievable cast which includes, Ed Harris, Gary Oldman and Robin Wright Penn.
5. Saving Private Ryan- A war movie about the invasion of Normandy World War two. The Director of this film is Steven Spielberg who won best director for the film and stars Tom Hanks as Captain Miller, who was assigned to find and bring home private Ryan played by Matt Damon. Captain Miller’s Lieutenant orders him to find private Ryan in order to save him so that he may be sent back home to prevent his mother who has already lost three of her sons in battle, receive notice of a fourth son losing his life. This movie is a tear jerker, action packed, suspense and drama all wrapped in one. Indeed one of my favorites.
