Back up, restore, recharge and re-energize to do the best in your life.

How many of you have had days where you catch yourself running around like a mad person trying to get things done and can’t seem to find enough time in the day to accomplish it all, hardly ever thinking to perhaps back up for a little while so you can restore and recharge? I am guessing there are many who find themselves exhausted by the end of the night, plopping themselves into bed only to wake up still feeling tired and pushing themselves to finish yesterday’s task along with the added ones of the present day. What a bummer, huh?
I believe many of us go through weeks and maybe even months where the last thing on our minds is our own well being. We tend to place everything and everyone else before us, until we start paying the price of being run down ragged with illnesses, fatigue, depression, anxiety and many other symptoms.

It is often not realized that we need time and space to restore and re-energize in order to accomplish our tasks and responsibilities appropriately and with a level head or if we do realize it we simply choose to ignore it. We cease to acknowledge how much better we can accomplish things if we would recharge on a regular basis instead of always going full speed ahead with no in between time for restoration.
You are probably asking yourself “well, where on earth I am going to find the time to restore with a list that never ends but, just keeps getting longer?” My answer to that is “quality and not necessarily quantity.” Although a trip to an island with a fabulous spa would be ideal, who wouldn’t want that?
Quality five to twenty minute breaks can give you an unbelievable boost of energy and help you stop from crashing, while you restore the files in your brain which often acts as your own little personal database. Just as an automobile begins to stall when losing fuel so do we. Therefore, we must recharge so that we can continue to take charge.
Here are a few examples on how you can restore and re energize.
The quite space – In between all of your running around, find a quite space, where you can take a five minute breather, silence your blackberry and perhaps even sip a cup of tea. A park or a small café with little traffic make great choices for those five minute breaks.
Ten minute massage – One of the things I love about the city are those small salons that offer ten minute or more massages depending on the salon. They are relatively inexpensive and a fantastic way to recharge in a small amount of time.
Personal Oasis – Create your own little personal oasis at home. Now some people get so busy they do not realize that they can be creative with a few simple steps that will help them feel relaxed. Scented candles, dim lighting, soft music, and warm bath for twenty minutes and trust me you won’t regret it.
Power nap – Turn it all off! The computers, phones, TVs and what ever else electronic gadget that takes precedent over your daily life on a regular basis. Set your alarm clock for fifteen, maybe twenty minutes and close your eyes until alarm rings. Simple as that folks, I bet you always knew of the power naps but hardly remembered them with your busy lives and all. Take this as a friendly reminder.
Besides the health benefits that you receive from taking time out for yourself to restore and recharge. These examples can also help you accomplish your work more efficiently and with a better attitude. They can help you minimize errors, have a better memory, smile more, worry less and feel more at ease. Remember to do your best you have to feel your best and a sure way to do that is by taking time out for yourself.

You are so right:) It does make a difference to take a breather! Just a few years ago, I learned that I was too driven. That it was ok, to take a break, and take a nap.
15 minutes to rest, didn't mean I was old! How amazing it was for me to have that 15 minutes of quiet time, and what it did for my soul and body:) Great Hub! Loved your pictures!
