Take it easy
Have you taken a day for yourself lately? You know the kind of day where you can put on your comfortable slippers, sink into the cozy sofa, and feel relaxed without the need to focus on all the worries. I believe we all need that day. We need it to re energize and relax. Feeling tired? Taking a day for yourself can help you reflect on the positive, bring gratitude in your heart and re energize.
The daily responsibilities of running around trying to accomplish things and sometimes even trying to accomplish them simultaneously are certain to put a toll on some of us sooner or later. Many of us are so busy taking care of others that we forget to care for ourselves, only to find out when we break down from physical or mental exhaustion, we become no good to others as well.
I have met people who are, to say the least die hard workaholics. They some how feel empty if they are not working. These individuals are full of fear that they may lose their job due to the economy or lose overtime hours to another employee. Although, they may have valid fears it is however, not valid nor healthy to work seven days a week twelve to fourteen hours a day on a regular basis.
There is also the super mom or dad that handles a household, children and countless of different chores. I know parents with small children where their day goes by and they never sit on a sofa or a chair for even a moment. Their time of rest comes late in the evening about midnight, where they plop them selves into bed in complete and utter exhaustion and wake up a few hours later to do it again day after day. By all means, they are fantastic parents, they are responsible and proud or their role and I certainly applaud them. As a parent my self, I think parenting is one of the hardest jobs there is. I also know these parents need a break sometimes, on special occasions such as birthdays; they should be given gift certificates to spas and offered free babysitting a few hours a week so that they can catch up on sleep. This can give these parents time to recharge and refocus.
There are those who thrive from a demanding day full of a busy and chaotic schedule. As a matter of fact if they are not experiencing over the limit activity they feel as if nothing is getting done and may even feel less successful.
Why wait for that one week of paid vacation or a doctor’s order to take it easy, relax and reflect. There should be at least one day out of the week where you have a day just for you and if that one day for some reason can not be attainable on that particular week, then a few hours should be set aside to unwind and refocus.
Sure people have there financial concerns especially in this economy, some are even afraid of going on a vacation because of the fear of returning back to no job. But, that should not stop any one from regaining piece of mind or having leisure time. There are instances where I wonder why some people wait for sunny days and warm weather to take a walk on a board walk when the walk can be as soothing in other types of weather and the views as breathtaking. When was the last time you put on a pair of pajamas, made a bowl of popcorn, sat back and enjoyed watching a good movie?
Revitalization can heal your mind and spirit. Some have this flawed idea that they need to be on the go at all times waiting and watching for that something, which they cannot miss. They need to feel ready to take charge at any time, any day for the fear of losing out at a chance of great triumph. While that is admirable, I am all for chasing your dreams. The truth is if you do not take time out for your self to rejuvenate, you might be too exhausted to even notice an opportunity at triumph. Have you ever heard of a student who studies countless of hours, day and night with out a break and all of the sudden they either wake up late and miss their exam or may be to exhausted during the exam to even remember what they studied.
We all need to have balance in our schedules; sure attending to your family, overtime work and additional days at your place of employment is necessary and perfectly normal. It is also normal and imperative to have leisure time, rest and relaxation.

We need to take it easier than we do, so often rushing around and doing things, and do we ever stop to ask, what for? This is a great Hub. Thanks

Right on Maddie! I also think those who over work are hiding something. That something deeper exsist's that they do not want to face. Working is a way to cover that up. You think?
Great Hub and wonderful advice. I think I was due for one of those days about 6 months ago... always doing something, but usually for everyone else but me. Perhaps I should send this hub to my family and see if someone offers to take my kids for a day :) RATE UP!!!
