Thank you mother, you are my one and only

With all the differences we have had

For all the times I’ve made you mad

You‘re still my one and only, lovely mother

Your strength shines through

Like sun in skies of blue

Your love is like no other

My one and only, lovely mother

The things I did which made you scream

The words you said that made me mean

No matter what we’ve said to one another

You’re still my one and only, lovely mother

For all the times I said your fault

For all the tears of taste like salt

You picked me up from every fall

You said chin up and made me tall

My one and only, lovely mother

I know you’re sorry for the pain

You knew no better, I see the shame

You are still the one I need to hold

When this world is dreary and so cold

My one and only, lovely mother

I’ve made mistakes along the way

Please stop taking all the blame

As imperfect as things were

I look for you when life’s a blur

My one and only, lovely mother

You still call to warn me of rain

I still call you when I feel pain

You still tell me be courageous

I still need you through life’s stages

My one and only, lovely mother

This is so lovely. Thank you so much - I will always adore my mother! Sometimes I wonder - how could they stand us - you know while we were growing up - but somehow they did.

Beautiful and so touching, Madison! I wish I had thought of this as every year my mind draws a blank as I go to write a Mother's Day card and long, long letter and send my mom many in between! I really enjoyed reading it and will bookmark it so I remember to cherish my mother!!! Great job!

Whenever someone is suffering usually mum is the word most pronounced, there is a reason for it. Wonderful poem Madison, really heart touching. Rated and stumbled. Well done.

Ann, I am so glad you enjoyed it. It is true, no matter how much we love our mother's sometimes we forget to cherish them. Thank you!

Ladybird, thank you so much. Now every single time I read it I get teary and call my mom. It's funny because I have always called my mother. But, since I wrote this hub I have been calling her even more.

Hypnodude, Absolutely! When I have any kind of suffering she really is the first to come to mind. Thank you for your comment, always a pleasure.

I love this madison, I love my mother, I was a thorn in her side, but I came out of it. Now she is gone, I really miss her.
