Simple meditation

For those of you who would like to practice meditation but haven't or maybe you have, but quickly become disinterested because you simply do not want to sit in a spot, in a particular position and hum away, I have news for you.

There are many ways to meditate that does not require you to follow a specific ritual.

First and foremost we must remember that the number one reason most of us want to meditate is to achieve being less stressful and become more relax. And there are many ways to do that, than just the usual meditative rituals.

5 to 15 Minutes

Another good thing to know is that you can implement meditation in your life everyday by setting a side 5 to 15 minutes rather then a high expectation of a few hours a week which may discourage you, especially if you have a busy schedule.

Distractions can also discourage us along with losing focus, we are only human. And if we are meditating to have less stress than we must not beat ourselves up and just re-focus.

Five simple ways to meditate

Here are five ways simple ways to meditate for less stress:

Beautiful things – Sitting on a park bench exploring the sites and beauty of nature. Listening to the birds hum, focusing on the green grass and pretty flowers. Breathing in the fresh air and breathing out, erasing any negative thoughts, taking in every moment with awe and appreciation for life.

Walking by spectacular views – Practically every city and town has an area with awesome views such as the ocean, beaches or skylines. These are wonderful places to spend ten minutes walking by or even stretching your muscles while meditating on the wonders of the world. It can easily removes chaotic thinking and bring you back to a simpler state of mind.

Around your home – Don’t underestimate your house hold chores. Repetition can take you into a meditative state such as soft music while folding clothes, rearranging your closets or cupboards. Focusing on a task can keep you in the moment and relax you.

In your neighborhood – Mister Rogers said “who are the people in your neighborhood” I like to say “what are the things in your neighborhood”. Taking brisk walks around your very own neighborhood on a lovely day, looking at the pretty homes and gardens, concentrating on particular subjects of beauty while focusing on your breathing can also serve as a meditative practice.

Prayer – Whether you are sitting on your sofa or lying down on your bed a prayer of your choice can help you reach a meditative state. Repetition of a prayer often helps you relax and stay focus. It can also help you worry less. Usually after I meditate with prayer I like to take a few minutes to breathe in and out while focusing on a different area of my body one by one and releasing tension from each part.

I hope these simple tips help you reach a state of relaxation causing you too feel less stress and bring back focus in your mind and life from time to time. I know for me they are instrumental in achieving peace and harmony, especially during difficult moments or hectic tiresome days.

A great hub, with great suggestions for reducing stress!

I like take soothing walks, and spending quite times at my kitchen table gazing out the window. My favorite way to meditate is to just start blessing the Lord. As David said, "I will bless the Lord at all times,His praise shall continually be in my mouth."

How can someoneone stay tense if they are saying words that honor the Lord? In this way, I can forget about myself, and my temporal troubles.

As far as the house, I think a good housekeeper can help release stress! Then I could spend more time creating and writing:) Wouldn't that be great! Really, getting out of the house for a walk, is an awesome stress reliever, and as you said while we're at it, getting some fresh air:)
